<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The research problem lies in the limited study of the phenomenon of anxiety sensitivity, the extremely small volume of theoretical conceptualizations of its nature and structure in the Russian-language scientific field, as well as the lack of a systematic understanding of how anxiety sensitivity is related to the process of experiencing different types of loss, including trauma-associated losses (those that are initially traumatic and those that become traumatizing as a result of complicated grief). Anxiety sensitivity functions as a linking mechanism between the type of high-intensity stressor and the severity of posttraumatic stress, largely determining individual patterns of posttraumatic responding. The present study made it possible to conceptualize anxiety sensitivity not as an isolated symptom or a secondary manifestation of psychopathology, but as an autonomous psychological variable mediating the experience of loss and the transformation of lived experience into a traumatic one. The analysis demonstrated that different types of loss are differentially associated with the level and structure of anxiety sensitivity, thereby determining the specificity of somatic, cognitive, and social (behavioral) responses. Depressive rumination, impaired regulation of positive affect, and peritraumatic distress strengthen the association between anxiety sensitivity and complicated grief reactions. The type of loss and the structure of anxiety sensitivity jointly shape the profile of posttraumatic responses to loss, ranging from predominantly affective patterns (depression, anxiety, interpersonal sensitivity) to cognitive-dissociative patterns (working memory impairment, distortions in threat appraisal, dissociation). The obtained and integrated findings clarify the mechanisms underlying the formation of posttraumatic symptomatology following loss and expand current understandings of the role of individual vulnerability factors in the dynamics of grief and psychological adaptation.
