<abstract xml:lang="ru">

Language teaching has a lot to do with sociolinguistics. Various social factors influence language teaching and learning. Nowadays, no one doubts that language as a means of communication arises and develops only in society. Hence, language is a social phenomenon. In any society, language acts as a means of accumulating, storing, and transmitting knowledge acquired by that society. This paper explores the relationship between sociolinguistics and language teaching. Several social factors such as situation, context, and social environment play an important role in language teaching. Sociolinguistic competence is an integral part of communicative competence, which includes the study of pragmatic and sociolinguistic knowledge, cultural knowledge of how to use language linguistically and socially appropriate. Therefore, society and the social, economic and cultural changes taking place in it, cannot help but influence the various levels of language. Equally, language has a significant impact on society. The literary form of any language, the stabilization of norms of its use have a significant impact on the sphere of everyday communication, contribute to the cultural level of speakers of this language and lead to the gradual erasure of dialect distinctions. New words and phrases appearing in the language, new meanings of words expressing new concepts, which have emerged in society, in turn, help people better understand the world around them, more accurately convey their thoughts. However, recent research emphasizes the need to activate such communicative skills in future teachers regardless of their level of linguistic knowledge.
